2017-18 SLC VARSITY SOCCER WIN BEATING PARISHVILLE
In Brasher Falls, SLC kicked off its seventh season by relaying a 2-0 halftime lead into a 5-1 decision over Parishville-Hopkinton for the program’s first win over the Panthers under the guidance of Julia Rose.
In the season opener for both squads, the Larries broke open a close game with three goals in the first six minutes of the second half. Bransen Kinnear netted home a direct kick by Trent Down 10 minutes into the game and Colby Jenkinson struck for the eventual game-winner off an assist from Andrew Lantry with 5:28 left in the first half.
Dow sparked the decisive second-half surge when he connected in the fifth minute from Lantry, who made it 4-1 just 25 seconds later assisted by Ben Steiger before a Carter Rose corner kick into the goalmouth led to a scramble that ended when Lantry knocked the ball in off a Panthers defender.
P-H spoiled the Larries bid for the shutout when Peyton Snell converted off an assist from Brendan Phippen with 7:25 remaining.
Zach St. Hilaire posted 11 saves and Dow stepped in to block a penalty shot in the first half working the crease in the win while the duo of Alec Hayes and Kyle Woods combined to make 10 stops for P-H.
