SLC /CHATEAUGAY SOFTBALL AND BASEBALL GAME
Chateaugay 5, SLC 3: In Brasher Falls, the Bulldogs scored the first four runs of the game before the Larries cut the deficit to 4-3 in the bottom of the fifth after pushing across all of their runs.
Kieran Gibson (10 K, 4BB, 2H) pitched the first five innings for the win before Nick Ashline provided two innings of hitless relief to earn the save. Luke Peets (5IP, 7BB, 6K, 2H) was saddled with the loss. Ryan Newtown (3K, 3BB, 1H) went the final two innings in relief.
Offensively for Chateaugay, Blayne Nicholas connected for a pair of singles. David Niles singled and scored a pair of runs. Zach Cowan also scored twice while Gibson had a solo run scored.
Brian Waite singled and scored a run in the losing cause. Caleb Gnomes had the other hits while Peets and Joe DiMatteo scored the other runs.
St. Lawrence Central varsity softball team steadily pulled away to its second high-scoring win in three days on Thursday in posting a 23-2 NAC East Division win over Chateaugay in their home debut.
Sophomore Bailee Gauthier went the distance for the win, stiking out five and walking three while scattering three hits. Brianna Cook was dealt the loss.
Junior Haleigh Agans sparked the SLC offense going 3-5 with a triple, six RBI and three runs scored. Natasha Barnhart went 2-2 with three runs scored. Jenna Thompson singled and scored a pair of runs while Morgan Ramsdell was 1-3 with a run scored.
For Chateaugay, Alicia Cook singled and scored a run. Brooke Dwyer and Johnston had the other hits while Brianna Cook scored the other run.
