Lady Larries win SENIOR GAME.... beating Massena, 3-2
SLC claims sole possession of their respective Northern Athletic Conference regular season banners SLC wins 3, Massena 2: At Brasher Falls, the visiting Lady Raiders twice built one-run leads before the Lady Larries pushed across final two runs of the game, including the game-winner in the bottom of the seventh, as they clinched the Central Division title with a 13-1 record. “It’s definitely nice to win the league. We had to beat good teams to do it. Now come the playoffs,” coach Tim Brown said as the Lady Larries set their sights on competing for the Section 10 Class C title starting Tuesday. In the win over Massena, senior Bailee Gauthier fanned eight, walked two and scattered five hits to earn the win over Amber Thomas, who had seven strikeouts and walked two. She surrendered six hits. In a game that featured clutch hits on both sides, Massena opened the scoring in their first at-bat when Sydnee Carroll drew a walk and was driven home by a single from Alyssa Eubank. The Larries tied the game in their half of the fourth when Riley Barton singled home Leah Francis before the Lady Raiders regained the lead in the fifth when Thomas scored in front of a fielder’s choice grounder by Reaghan Peets. Haleigh Agans tied the game with a home run in the bottom of the fifth. Natasha Barnhart wound up scoring the game-winning run in the seventh when she led off with a single then scored from first base on a throwing error. Gauthier, Sydney Collins and Kelsey Waite had the other SLC hits. Kelly Southwick, Abbey Paduano and Shaunessy LaClair singled to account for the other Massena hits.
