2019 SLC-16 SARANAC/LAKE PLACID-1 VARSITY LACROSSE
The St. Lawrence Central varsity boys lacrosse team opened the 2019 NAC season by steadily pulling away to a wind-swept 16-1 win over Sara-Lake Placid at the SUNY Potsdam turf field Wednesday night.
Senior Matt Burg (4 assists) and freshman Jayden Ashley (1 assist) led the winning attack with five goals each as the Larries worked their way to a 6-0 lead through the first quarter and never looked back. Sophomore Alex Burg tallied three goals and an assist. Junior Ryan LaPage finished with two goals and two helpers while classmate Zach Dumers fashioned a goal and two assists. Junior Sean Hornung and freshman Gabe Hornung each logged an assist while junior Cash Feeley blocked three shots backstopping the win.
Matt White converted off an assist from Dylan Murnane for a man-up goal in the second quarter to account for the SLP offense. The duo of Hugo Hobson (7 saves) and Logan Brown (4 saves) split crease duties.
With construction of the new field at the SLC campus due to get underway later this spring, the Larries (2-0, 1-0) have arranged to use the SUNY Potsdam field as their home away from home this year. They continue the busy start of their season this afternoon when they travel to Potsdam Central to take on the Sandstoners starting at 5 p.m.
