Canton defeated the St. Lawrence Central Larries 64-33 to advance to the Section X Overall Championship where they will take on the Harrisville Pirates. St. Lawrence Central’s Jewell Walkins (12) cuts between two Canton defenders to score off the open-look layup at the end of the fourth quarter. The Canton Golden Bears used their size and speed to out-man the St. Lawrence Central Larries in the first half, then cruised to a 64-33 victory in the Section X boys overall semifinals at SUNY Potsdam. The Bears jumped out to a 19-7 lead behind an 11-point performance from Louden Porter who scored 13 overall. Tom Bortnick splashed four 3-pointers in the first half and finished the night with 14 points overall. The Golden Bears stretched the lead to 36-16 at intermission. Declan Porter scored 13, while Andy Downs connected for three shots beyond the arc for nine points overall. St. Lawrence Central was led by Cash Feeley who scored seven points in the second quarter and nine overall, but was held scoreless in the second half. Ben Horner added six points all in the fourth quarter. Canton advances to face the winner of the Massena-Harrisville semifinal for the overall Section X Championship. St. Lawrence Central will continue on to the opening round of the New York State Class C playoffs.
